Our lab through the some pioneering work of Dr. Zhiying “Carol” Wang and in collaboration with the UTA Shimadzu Research Institute for Analytical Chemistry developed and validated following strict FDA clinical guidelines. For the first time a new approach for the simultaneous isolation, followed by the precise quantification of the aminobutyric acids, including α-aminobutyric acid (AABA), β-aminobutyric acid (BABA), β-aminoisobutyric acid (BAIBA), γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) and their isomers. We recently published a landmark paper in Nature Communications Biology describing our new method and illustrating its potential clinical utility in the early diagnosis of osteopenia/osteoporosis.
